Arben Bala, the actor who brought Kosovo the Golden Palm of the Cannes Festival

At the end of December, Variety, which stands out as one of the world media with the greatest focus on cinematography, brought a list of the 13 best international series during 2021.
Part of this short list was also the Norwegian series “Countrymen”, which is a production of an Albanian director and starring an Albanian actor as well.
Actor Arben Bala, who has a successful career in Norway, in an interview for the Telegraph, told more about the success of this series, which ended up being awarded a very important prize at the Cannes Film Festival (Cannseries) , held in October last year.
“The story of the ‘Countrymen’ series follows four Muslim men who move to a rural part of Norway and end up establishing the first halal cheese production business in Norway. “Director Izer Aliu, recognizing my quality and dedication to work, entrusted me with the main role in this series”, Arbeni told Telegraf.
Referring to the fact that this series ended in the list of 13 best series by Variety and with the Golden Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival (Canneseries), the actor from Kosovo showed in the continuation of the conversation that he is very proud of his achievements in cinematography.
“I worked for 17 years to create a career in the film industry. Success is achieved with dedication and willingness to work. Of course, seeing the success of ‘Countrymen’, I, like everyone, feel proud and I am happy for the success achieved in this series selected among the 13 most popular series in the world for 2021 by Variety”, the actor emphasizes.
Winning an award at the Cannes Film Festival is rare for an Albanian, but Arben said that this assessment by a world-class jury came as a result of several years of hard work.
“It is not at all easy to create a career in Norway. My plans for the future remain to work even harder to achieve what I aim for. “The very fact that I was selected as one of the best actors at the Cannes Film Festival by the world-famous jury has made me feel very happy,” the “Countrymen” actor said.
As he has found success in the Nordic state, the actor continues to maintain a very strong bond with his roots. “I come to Kosovo at least once or twice a year. “I am originally from the city of Miners, Mitrovica”, he says.
Between film and engagements in cinematography, Arben seems to have another passion, which he has developed for many years in the Scandinavian country.
“I am passionate about helping minors, I have been involved in martial arts for a long time and I have been a kickboxing coach in the Norwegian capital, Oslo,” he said.

Although he does not hesitate to comment on his professional life, the actor from Mitrovica does not seem to be so quick when asked about his private life, choosing to answer simply and concisely: “I am very happy and fulfilled in my private life as well”.
