Arbënesh in Zadar, 295 years away from homeland

In Zadar, Croatia, the Arbënesh community is celebrating these days the 295th anniversary of the arrival of the first families from Albania. On this occasion, from May 3 to 21, an exhibition of photographs documenting the history of the Albanian colony there will remain open to the public.

The event is organized by the Cultural Association “Aleksandar Stipčević”, under the auspices of Berndard Kotlar and is entitled “Fountain”. The celebrations are also held in the framework of the feast of Our Lady of Loreto, which is also the sanctuary of the Albanian church in Zadar.

From Monday, May 3, 2021, in the Branch “Aleksandar Stipčević” – Arbanasi you can see the exhibition “Fountain” organized on the occasion of the 295th anniversary of the arrival of Albanians in Zadar and the feast of Our Lady of Loretska. The library, in collaboration with author Bernard Kotlar, is organizing an exhibition of old postcards and new photographs of the Fountain, accompanied by a brochure.
